Turbocharger

Removal

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this section, refer to Safety Warnings in section 100-00 General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

NOTICE: Whenever turbocharger air intake system components are removed, always cover open ports to protect from debris. It is important that no foreign material enter the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes are susceptible to damage from even small particles. All components should be inspected and cleaned, if necessary, prior to installation or reassembly.

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

All vehicles

1. Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).

   2. Torque : 5 Nm
   3. Torque : 5 Nm
   4. Torque : 5 Nm

1. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
   

1. 1. Torque : 10 Nm
   2. Torque : 5 Nm

1. Refer to: Catalytic Converter (309-00C Exhaust System - 2.0L EcoBoost (184kW/250PS) - MI4, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Refer to: Cooling System Draining and Vacuum Filling (303-03C Engine Cooling - 2.0L EcoBoost (184kW/250PS) - MI4, General Procedures).
   

1. NOTE: Both water outlet tube clamps must be installed between the 2 paint stripes on hoses.

   Torque : 28 Nm

1. Torque : 10 Nm

1. Torque : 25 Nm

1. NOTE: Make sure that a new turbocharger oil supply filter is installed.

1. NOTE: Make sure that a new turbocharger oil drain tube is installed. By not doing so, the turbocharger oil drain tube may leak and cause engine damage.

   Torque : 10 Nm

1. NOTE: Make sure that 2 new turbocharger oil drain tube gaskets are installed. By not doing so, the turbocharger oil drain tube may leak and cause engine damage.

4x4

1. 1. Early build vehicles equipped with metal vacuum tubes.
      
   2. Late build vehicles equipped with nylon vacuum tubes.

1. General Equipment : Wooden Block
   General Equipment : Trolley Jack

All vehicles

1. Torque : 17 Nm

Installation

NOTICE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

1. NOTE: Make sure that 4 new turbocharger-to-cylinder head studs, 4 new turbocharger nuts and a new turbocharger gasket are installed.

   Torque : 50 Nm

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
