Catalytic Converter
Removal
WARNING:
Before beginning any service procedure in this section, refer to Safety Warnings in section 100-00 General Information. Failure
to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE:
If the catalytic converter is not being replaced, the
and the catalyst monitor sensor do not need to be removed from the catalytic converter. Disconnecting the electrical connectors
is still necessary.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.

Remove the muffler and tailpipe.

NOTICE:
Removing the catalytic converter-to-turbocharger clamp may be difficult. Use care not to scratch or gouge the catalytic converter
flanges or sealing surfaces. Scratches and gouges may cause exhaust leaks.
NOTE:
Note the position of the catalytic converter-to-turbocharger clamp for installation.
Installation

NOTE:
Do not tighten the 2 catalytic converter-to-bracket nuts at this time.

NOTE:
Make sure the new catalytic converter-to-turbocharger clamp is positioned over both the catalytic converter inlet flange and
the turbocharger outlet flange.
Position the catalytic converter-to-turbocharger clamp as noted during disassembly.
