Removal

  1. Remove the following items:
    1. Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.5L EcoBoost (118kW/160PS), Removal and Installation).
      Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12B Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.6L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) - Sigma, Removal and Installation).
      Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12C Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L EcoBoost (184kW/250PS) - MI4, Removal and Installation).
      Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12D Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS), Removal and Installation).
    2. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.5L EcoBoost (118kW/160PS), Removal and Installation).

  1. NOTE: If an internal problem is suspected, drain the transmission fluid through a paper filter. A small amount of metal or friction particles may be found from normal wear. If an excessive amount of metal or friction material is present, the transmission will need to be overhauled.

    Torque : 12 Nm

  1. NOTE: Note the location of the studbolts for assembly.

Installation

  1. Material : Ultra Silicone Sealant / TA-29

  1. NOTE: Install the studbolts in the locations noted during disassembly.

    Torque : 12 Nm
    1. Seal (7D258)
    1. Backing ring (7J324)
      Material : Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (WSS-M2C938-A) (MERCON® LV )
    1. Torque : 9 Nm
  1. Torque : 11 Nm
  1. Torque : 9 Nm
  1. Install the following items:
    1. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 1.5L EcoBoost (118kW/160PS), Removal and Installation).
