Power Roof Opening Panel Initialization

WARNING: Keep objects and body parts clear of the glass panel when carrying out the initialization procedure. During the initialization procedure, the glass panel closes with high force and cannot detect objects in its path. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

NOTE: A new roof opening panel motor must be initialized after installation. It will only move toward the vent position until initialized.

NOTE: The roof opening panel motor initialization procedure must be done when repairs are carried out on any part of the roof opening panel system, including: any time the roof opening panel motor has been removed from the roof opening panel assembly, a new roof opening panel motor has been installed or when a new roof opening panel assembly has been installed.

  1. NOTE: All passenger doors must remain closed for this procedure.

    Open the driver door and position the ignition switch ON, engine OFF.
  1. Close the driver door and wait for the map/overhead console lamps to turn off.
  1. NOTE: Perform steps 3 - 5 within 5 seconds.

    Press the left map lamp 1 time turning it on.
  1. Press the right map lamp 4 times turning it on, off, on, and finally off.
  1. NOTE: The map lamps should alternately flash when this step is complete.

    Press the left map lamp 1 time turning it off.
  1. NOTE: The map lamps should stop flashing when this step is complete.

    Press the left map lamp 2 times turning it on, then off.
  1. Press and hold the vent button until the roof opening panel glass moves to the full vent position.
  1. NOTE: The driver door must remain open for the rest of the procedure.

    Open the driver door.
  1. Cycle the ignition switch OFF and then back ON.
  1. NOTE: Do not release the vent button until the roof opening panel glass is fully closed.

    Press and hold the vent button while the roof opening panel glass cycles fully open and finally to the fully closed position . Release the vent button.
  1. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position. Test the system for normal operation. If the roof opening panel does not operate correctly, repeat the procedure.
